About Us
We are a typical Cairns family. I work part time and my husband works in the building industry. Prior to our children (we have 2 boys aged 7 and 4) we thought we were living healthy lifestyles. We never believed we had the need or knowledge to read labels on the foods we ate.
Our first child was born with a lung condition called bronchomalacia, along with many allergies and chemical intolerances. After his diagnosis it became essential that we did read labels and, after many hours of research, we were disgusted at the amount of nasty ingredients that are unnecessarily added to our foods. (Please see guide to additives) It has therefore become our vision that one day, we may have supermarkets that contain only “pure products”.
Originally this was our plan; to open a supermarket that contained only products that were completely free of all artificial additives. But unfortunately this proved to be impossible. Although the larger supermarkets do not have a sufficient range of organic products, or make it easy to know which products are chemical free, they do have the buying power, which makes it impossible to be competitive with prices. With this in mind, and the added cost of freight to Cairns, our dreams seemed to be dashed.
But with a great deal of patience, rethinking and help from family, friends and the modern electronic world, our vision has finally been reached; an affordable, additive free, online supermarket for the Cairns and surrounding community.
